Jana Madzigon currently works as a press photographer for the Austrian daily newspaper "Die Presse" and for the Austrian Press Agency (APA). She worked in the war zones of Ukraine in 2023-24 and reported for "Die Presse" on the last US elections in 2024 from New York. In 2024 she gave a lecture for young journalists at the APA Academy on press photography.
- Born in Kazakhstan. Studied art history and organ in Moscow. After a scholarship in Austria, she initially began working as an art director for an IT-company in Vienna. She started taking photographs by chance in the early 2000s to meet the need for photographic material for her work concepts. But she soon realized that this medium could cover her need for personal expression and socialization. She later completed a degree in art photography at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich.
